Thoughts from a soggy mind - best served Cold

Ahh…d hols r over! Should i b sad or happy? Well..makes no difference since i studied like mad anyway. Maths, chem, bio, esl…u name it, i’ve done it. Lol. D unholidayest holiday i’ve ever had, what with running around here n there doin stuff as well, OMG! In a way i’m kinda glad d hols r over..so now i can tel myself 2 buck up n studi hard for trials n finals. Tonight? Exception =) cos i hv important stuff 2discuss wif frens via msn, hehe. Anyway, here’ d itinery of my hols:

1. Granma’s birthday

The grand old lady of d house turned 78 on monday 21st August 2006 but v held it slightly earlier so that Everyone could come. What a gathering! I could see that dearie granny was very happy and i’m kinda happy+ sad considering i can oni celebrate wif her again 5 years down d road… Oh well, here r d pics:

         2.    Activities back in Teluk Intan

So i went back to teluk intan on monday morn to discover that my body has acclimatised to aircond! So it was like living in a desert..omg..had to take 5 baths a day! BUT i was happy 2b back in d place i was born..this is where i had d most wonderful memories after all =) So i went about studying day n nite (wad else?) n finishing all d trial papers. Yeah..i did go out once wif frens (to hoover, not hooters) and v had a nice banter which made all d other customers stare at our table, lol... Ray, sori ya i know i said i’d sms u bt i didnt n stil havent done so..i’l do so asap, hehe..well, u guys r taking stpm trials nex week so all d best!

Another thing worthy of mention was that i had fun chatting on msn wif a Friend =] haha..i noe itz not veri significant, like, chattin on msn! Anyone can do it rite? But den, in d late hours of d nite, when ur mentally exhausted after vigorous studying amid hot n humid conditions, it does help u de-stress and it was juz so farnie..we talked n talked about cipan ! For the uninformed, itz d malay name for tapir (an animal wif black head + white butt). HAha…v debated about d function of cipan in the ecosystem..should it just eat ants or do something more meaningful? Like posing for pics? LOL…i noe it doesnt make sense but nvm, i had great fun n that’s all that matters =)

          3.       My Sister’s Convocation

Ahh…yes! This was THE event of my holidays! Like a volcanic eruption, d excitement n tension juz builds up towards the Big Day. After 5 long years of slogging it out, my sis has finally got her Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours), first class leh! oni 51 ppl managed 2 get 1st class (all disciplines included) so yeah..damn proud =)

The convocation was on Sunday 27th August 2006 but we went a day earlier to Ipoh 1st to spend d nite there n hv some fun.. Visited Sam Poh Tong where there were absolutely fantastic tortoises in d pond..check this pic out!

Anyway, here’s about the BIG DAY! we woke up at 6 am then proceeded to rush thru mundane stuff like bathing, dressing up etc…departure from ipoh syuen at 7am and reached sis’ uni, Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) at about 8am. It was ady jampacked like shit but v managed to get a place anyway. And best thing was i got to get insid  d convo hall wif my granny + parents even tho at 1st oni my parents had tickets. Well, special treatment for senior citizens ma =)

So v went insid, n waited n waited n waited…finally it was my sis’ turn!! Yay..she took her scroll from Tun Mahathir:

Course, as wif all convocations we had to sit for so long our butts nearly froze. But finally all was over n v took photos wif d Pride of d Family…

Haha…it was a hectic but thoroughly happy ending to the hols. All in all v travelled sumting like 300 km but it was worth every drop of petrol =] Extremely proud of my sis, now the onus is on me to match her feat in 5 years’ time…

      Haha…at last! Its the HOLIDAYS!! The most anticipated yet, i’d say…considering the fact that we’ve bin having assessment after assessment, bad news after bad news.Ish…but den again it’s also likely to be the least enjoyable of all d hols we’v had so far.

     Now, seriously…studying for the entire duration of a one-week holiday is NOT my idea of fun. Why call it a holiday then? But then again i guess that’s wad v have to do cuz wif trials around d corner, there reali isnt much choice is there? So my schedule for d nex week reads something like dis :

     Morning : Wake up early, get my dose of caffeine and then it’s off to study

    Afternoon : Have lunch, read newspapers, then study again…

    Night :  Dinner, then ENJOY!! lolz…tht’s if my studyin’s on schedule.

Hurm..in the words of miss kwa, "This holidays you all are going to Study, Eat, Shit, Sleep, and Study again"  That’s juz plain great..What a way to relax and unwind.

BUt then again, i guess there Are certain sacrifices we have to make if v wana achieve success in life. U juz hv to grow up and face it. Like, where’s whining n doin nothin gona get u? i know i wana go 2 aus, so i guess itz better 2work my butt off now and enjoy the fruits of my labour ltr, rather than the other way round. Lolz..all d same i  guess we’re all entitled to grumble and whine a lil, itz when u onli Whine and do Nothing that u’re in trouble. Reminder: Don’t do that.

Ok, so i’ve covered the negative part of my hols. The positives? Quite many, all the same =) For starters, 2moro we’re gona celebrate my granma’s 78th birthday! Yay…the grand old lady of the house is gona have a nice nice party 2moro, which is why my parents r here in kl as well. Gona go back on monday

Second, of cuz it’s meeting my dear frens at last! Itz bin almost 3months since i last saw dem, so at least one meeting’s warranted…prolly 2 for kenneth, got lotsa stuff to discuss, hehex..

Third? Being back in my bedroom wil b absolutely heavenly Muz appreciate the nights i have back there, nex year a new room’s waiting (hopefully) in a land a few thousand miles away from here. So many memories, such comfort and peace not found in other places..

Fourth (but not the fourth in importance!!) - my sis is graduating! Yay…her convo’s on sunday 28th august, v all r gona invade her uni (Universiti Teknologi Petronas) where she’s gona b an official chemical engineer. Congrats sis,i noe u’ll read dis =)

Lols…i do hope i’m gona enjoy dis hols.

Haha…i’m posting this a day late, but nevermind =) yesterday was my 19th birthday, the last i’m gona celebrate in Malaysia for (hopefully) 4 years so it was extra special!

Where shall i start? Let’s see..the birthday wishes? Lols..they flooded in on Saturday night itself. The earliest was Kar Fay (10.30pm) and the last was ChongHong (1.30pm today). Not forgettin my best pal, Kenneth who called and chatted…hope u’l get well soon bro…In between there were many many others especially in the morning and evening, thank u ppl! Just one in the afternoon..but then that’s wad made it extra special =)..all in all, thank u to everyone who sent me a sms/ friendster message / testimonial to wish me a happy birthday, love u guys!!

Now here comes the FUN part, the celebration…Well, my dearie housemates and friends drafted the perfect plan to give me a surprise birthday party but the 1st step of execution itself met wif disaster so dey had to resort to Plan B. Which was even more spectacular (in a way) cos i was dragged to d poolside porch where 25 ppl were waiting to sing Happy Birthday to me Thanks everyone, to every single one who came, thanks for making it such a memorable burfdae for me…. And special thanks to Jason, chief organiser and Louis, assistant chief organiser who walked all around ridzuan goin to many many units to collect signatures for my burfdae card. I love u guys!! Cakes, presents..but reali, wad made me happiest was d fact that you guys all turned up / messaged me / called me/ testimonialled me…Like my friend used to say, "It’s the thought that counts" so i reali reali reali REALI appreciate d fact that u guys all remembered my burfdae and actuali cared to make it such a memorable one for me. Yes, itz d feelings, d camaraderie and…oh well, d abstract things (?) that were truly touching =)

      Haha…d past week was great fun! Well, that’s discounting the common tests, studying, worrying, rushing for physics IDS, blah blah blah..Apart from that everything was great fun, hehe..

     Let’s see: On monday we had chemistry common test but overall it went quite well i think…apart from careless mistakes i hope i din go answer d questions wrongly. Urm, i actuali counted d number of equations in that chapter the night before (sunday) n i got 50! lol..so it was a nice surprise that the paper we got on monday was quite charitable, which means if u’ve studied hard enough then u’ll be rewarded. I know i did, so i hope i’l b rewarded whn d papers r returned dis monday=)

Tuesday: A grinding grinding day, studying studying n memorizing physics concepts etc…Managed to differentiate between "Einstein’s assumptions about photoelectric effect" and "Properties of photoelectric effect" which was an achievement for a buta-physics guy like me. Also it was full moon so the sky was gorgeous!!

Wednesday : Physics common test! OMG! Wasnt hard, but den again as usual i was careless…din notice that E4 to E3 and E3 to E2 were repeated, so i wrote num of transitions = 8 instead of 6. Very happily show all the workings sumore.Ish. But then…the rest of d day was fun. Particularly playing squash wif hanafi, learnt a lot=) Among other things on an eventful wednesday..

Thursday : The big rush to finish physics IDS. Yea, v had mr sam’s assurance that handing-in has been postponed 2monday, but den i plan 2laze around during d weekend so i had to finish it doubly quick. I did! The quality was kinda ok plus i fulfilled the "improvements suggested must be creative" part: Anyone heard of applying CD player concept to measure time in oscillations? LOL!!

Friday : Ahh…got back my maths paper. I was dreading it in a way, one part apprehensive one part dun bloody care which always adds up to loss of appetite. Darn. Anyway, i did exactly as i expected: lost 4 marks. Not spectacular, n not bad as well. But the highlight was of course jessica’s birthday (hey, u just dun take d limelight away from a gal who’s turning eighteen). And then v went 2midvalley 2watch dragon tiger gate. Lol…d fighting scenes were quite well done but den i wish dey didnt steal d matrix idea (the Brawl or something like dat, cant quite remember) of having hundreds of baddies ganging up on a single person n he single-handedly beats everyone to pulp. That’s juz so lame. N d climactic fighting scene was funny…d bad guy got absolutely pummeled by d hero, mana ada fun?

Lol…so that was my week in review. Nothing special reali, juz another week nearer to trials! O yea…quotes of d week, haha!

"I gave my anus a workout" - No, A* wasnt talking dirty stuff, wat A* meant was that A* had just passed motion, lol.. *Identity of speaker is hidden to avoid embarassment

"Right now i want to revert to ground state energy level" - me trying a new way of saying "I want to sleep now"

"And then when they get quite close to each other, suddenly they’ll kiss" - Mr Sam’s explanation on how protons are bound to each other tightly….

"Sometimes, one sentence is more meaningful than a whole paragraph" - Mr Sam’s beautiful reply to my query on whether he thought my IDS conclusion was sufficient.

"Spontaneously my trachea experienced an irritation which caused my bronchi to contract. Thoracic pressure built up and air was exhaled through my mouth at high velocity" - My rather long decription of a cough. haha.

"Terrific movie. Damn it." - Jason’s imitation of Vic in Miss Congeniality when v saw the trailer of Spiderman 3. Itz showing in MAY NEXT YEAR! Arghh…

Haha…i alwiz like it if i could find a few quotes to put here. Anyway, from now on we (B1708 people) hv resolved to talk in a more scientfic manner…No more "chewing food", itz "masticating organic requirements". Lol..

Yups.. finished two common tests ady, now i’m down2 da last two.. seriously tho, da nex two r d killer ones : chem on monday followed by physics on wednesday…one long chapter for chem n 4chapters for physics =(

So i had maths on tues..it was…haiz. I guess it wasnt too bad, but then again it wasnt too good either. Statistics has never been my favourite chapter in maths n nvr will be. But i did try my best so no guilt there, except that i cud hv perhaps bin a lil bit more careful? esp when i knew how to do dat damn ques!

Ah well, n bio on wed. wasnt tough (thankfully), juz tht there were lotsa application ques which we’ve nvr seen b4 so a lil bit of apprehension here n there. but overall d paper was fine (thankfully again!).

So dis was basically a week full of revision, revision and revision….Bin attempting to swallow d phy textbook but so far still unsuccessful. Nvm..gona try again ltr =p

Sighs..i wonder y sum ppl almost always never get rewarded for their efforts? They try their best in revising, they do care bout their studies but sumhow bad luck alwiz strikes on d day of d test! Well, i do hope u guys will keep up d effort n never giv up ya? cos by d end of d day, success wil stil b waiting for u as long as u never giv up! so down wif cts! =)

Haha…so there’s my uneventful week. All i hope now is  to be able to combat my flu n stupid cough effectively enuf to take chem n phy tests in a clear state of mind…no fuzzy brains pls! So all the best to everyone, no matter wat assessments or tests u guys are taking!
